First Baptist Church Orlando
"A Passion for God, A Passion for People,

A Passion to Serve.”

Passion for God:
Our passion for God is exemplified largely in our passionate worship
experiences. Since worship services are usually the first experience one has with the church, it's important to us to seek to create an environment in worship that provides for an encounter with the living God.

Passion for people:
Our passion for people is played out through everyone's involvement in a LifeGroup. Many people are initially intimidated by the size of our church. But the big church becomes small through Life Groups. They are the place where we not only learn about our faith but also where we take care of one another. Our passion for people is also exemplified through our desire for everyone to feel welcome, regardless of background, life stage, ethnicity, or any other characteristic that may describe you.

Passion to serve:
Our passion to serve means that we are here to serve one another, both in the church, in our community, and in the world. We seek to provide specific opportunities for everyone to have a place of service
.

Education

The Baptist College of Florida

The Baptist College of Florida offers a great value added, Christian
education. We seek to keep costs as low as possible in order that our
graduates can pursue all that our Lord might lead in their lives without
being under an inordinate burden of debt. Over 90% of our students
receive some type of financial aid. Endowed scholarships through the B.R. Chamberlain Foundation provide our donors with the opportunity to make a difference long beyond their own lifetime.

New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary

The mission of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary is to equip
leaders to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandments
through the local church and its ministries. Our target as a Seminary is
healthy churches. We measure the effectiveness of our Seminary by the
health of the churches that our graduates lead.

New Tribes Mission

New Tribes Mission plants churches among people groups who have no
access to the Gospel. Our missionaries have a proven track record of the following:

  • Clearly presenting the Gospel to people with no prior knowledge
of the God of the Bible.
  • Discipling new believers.
  • Planting churches and nurturing them to maturity.
  • Partnering with tribal churches to reach other villages and other
    tribes.

Children

Edgewood Childrens' Ranch

1966 Juvenile Court Judge D. Arthur Yergey felt a burden – the need for a residential facility for young boys who had exhibited negative social
behavior due to family circumstances. Our Lord led Judge Yergey to John W. "Jack" Lynd, who subsequently opened Edgewood Ranch in Orlando. The goal of Yergey and Lynd was to rescue and rehabilitate these children. Through loving care, hard work and prayer the boys were given a safe environment in which to alter their destructive behavior, to learn and to grow. The results of that Holy Guidance have been dramatic. As of 2002, Edgewood Children's Ranch has had nearly a 90% success rate serving more than 3,600 frightened, troubled boys and girls. In 2001 there were 93 children who benefited from the program and 129 parents were provided with parenting classes. Through its residential coeducational program for boys and girls, ages 6-17, the Ranch today is able to accommodate more than 70 children at a time. Yet the methods and goals are the same as in 1966 - love and prayer, bringing about mended hearts and lives.

First Academy in Orlando

A K-12 Christ-Centered College Preparatory School                                  Perhaps that which separates The First Academy from the surrounding, non-public, college-preparatory schools is, at its core, the desire to help students build an active, personal Biblical worldview. In recent years, the school has updated much of its character-building processes, and has implemented a systematic infusion of critical-thinking skills activities and curriculum resources toward the goal of facilitating knowledge-based discernment among students of all ages. The First Academy strives to unlock the strength of each student in academics, athletics, and the fine arts, and seeks to send each student to the college or university of his choice, well-prepared and well-equipped for a life-long commitment to learning, service, and character.
